Dr Mikao Usui who was born in Japan in 1865, founded this traditional healing modality. He was a Christian Minister. He taught at a small Christian University and resigned to pursue knowledge about “faith healing” as mentioned in the Bible. He researched Buddhism and Zen philosophies and also travelled to India to learn Sanskrit where he unlocked the formula within symbols, mirroring Buddhas healing techniques. In March 1922 he embarked on a quest to complete his healing knowledge and spent 21 days on Kurama Yama, a sacred mountain in Japan. According to Willaim Lee Brand, in the Reiki Master Manual 2003, on the last day he received the healing energy of Reiki during a meditation and realizing its value he was motivated to open a Reiki clinic. He developed a manual for his students called the Reiki Ryoho Hikkei, translated as the Reiki Therapy Art Handbook.
The Reiki symbols which are words from the Japanese language, are passed from Master Teachers to their students during the attunement or initiation process at the end of the training on day two. The Level one and Level two Degrees trainings, are 12 hours in duration and are held over two consecutive days. In this way the Reiki Lineage is passed on. All Reiki Masters and Teachers can trace their lineage directly back to Dr Mikao Usui. This is always documented.
Guided meditations are used to cleanse and clear old vibrations and frequencies. This raises your own vibration and commences the connection to Higher Power within the classroom setting. Using the Reiki symbols is a shortcut to connecting to higher power when using the healing process on yourself or another student. This is very healing and can offer deep personal insights and raise new feelings during the learning process. Full support, individual coaching and practical instruction is offered, throughout the training process. You will experience Reiki as a receiver and giver during the class. Questions and discussion will be encouraged to assist learners to understand the therapeutic process and to obtain answers around their own experiences in the classroom and beyond. Students and graduates are encouraged to practice self- healing Reiki techniques as taught in class and to practice on others frequently. When we practice, we continue to heal at a deeper level and our senses become very highly attuned allowing the channelling of higher vibrations and frequencies of healing to come in.
